On the 35th day of Serie A, Sassuolo confirmed their status as Inter black beast, beating the newly crowned Italian champions 1-0. This crucial victory allowed Sassuolo to join Udinese on 29 points in the fight to avoid relegation.
At the Mapei Stadium, the home side played an under-tempo game, but managed to capitalise on a Dumfries error with Laurienté in the 20th minute. Despite the pressing of Inter and a goal cancelled out by Lautaro in the first half recovery, Sassuolo held out, maintaining their lead until the final whistle.
For Inter, therefore, the second defeat of the season came at the hands of the same and only team, Sassuolo.
In the other match before the game of Inter
In the other match of the day, Monza and Lazio drew 2-2. Lazio started strongly with a goal from Immobile in the 11th minute, but in the second half, Djuric equalised for Monza in the 73rd minute.
Vecino then put Lazio back ahead in the 83rd minute, but Djuric again scored the final equalising goal in 92 minutes. With this result, Lazio remained in seventh place, missing the opportunity to overtake Atalanta.
Between European qualification and the fight not to be relegated, these last few days promise to be exciting.
