Lazio, with a solid 2-0 victory over Empoli, consolidated their position in the race for a place in Europe, securing at least participation in the Conference League. The dream of the Champions League remains alive, although the road is impassable and full of obstacles.

Empoli, for its part, showed grit and determination, but it was not enough to avoid the threat of relegation. Despite a promising start, the Tuscan team outplayed by a relentless Lazio, with Mandas denying Caputo the joy of goal. The first half ended with an acrobatic goal from Patric, who took advantage of a Zaccagni corner to beat Caprile.

Lazio a victory worth europe

In the second half, Empoli tried to overturn the result, but a lack of precision on goal confirmed the offensive difficulties that have characterised their entire season. Mandas was called into action on a header by Shpendi and a free kick by Cacace, but kept his goal inviolate. Vecino then sealed the result in the 89th minute, leaving Empoli to ponder their fate in the next crucial match against Udinese.

Verona, Sassuolo…there is still hope

In another key encounter, the Bentegodi was the scene of sporting drama, with Swiderski putting his team ahead. However, in just six minutes, the Granata completed a spectacular comeback, bringing them to within one point of Napoli. Ballardini’s side, after taking the lead thanks to a Pinamonti penalty, suffered a comeback from their opponents, with Badelj finding the equaliser and an own goal turning the result upside down.

Sassuolo, after surprising everyone with a win against Inter, fell back, losing 2-1 to Genoa. The black-green team, now more than ever, needs a real miracle to avoid relegation. Genoa, with no particular ranking goals, once again demonstrated their ability to turn the tide of a match, as they did in the first leg. Sassuolo will now have to try to pick up points in the direct clash against Cagliari, knowing that every mistake could be decisive.

A win that’s worth Europe for Juventus

Juventus missed the opportunity to mathematically secure a place in the next Champions League, drawing 1-1 against Salernitana, already relegated. Despite their early dominance and numerous chances, with Vlahovic hitting the crossbar and Cambiaso coming close to scoring, Allegri’s side failed to get past the opposition defence.
Pierozzi opened the scoring for Salernitana, but in the interval, Rabiot saved the Old Lady from disaster by scoring the equalising goal.

At the same time, Atalanta secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Roma, in a game that saw Gasperini’s side dominate for much of the half.
De Ketelaere was the hero of the day, with a brace that put the Giallorossi defence in serious difficulty. Roma attempted a comeback with Pellegrini’s penalty, but it was not enough to change the outcome of the match.
