In a stunning turn of events at the Mapei Stadium, Juventus faced their first defeat of the season, as Sassuolo secured a 4-2 victory over the Bianconeri.

The match began on a sour note for Allegri’s side when, in the 12th minute, Laurienté’s angled shot, although central, was mishandled by Szczesny, gifting the Neroverdi the lead.

However, the Bianconeri quickly responded just nine minutes later. A cross from the left by Kostic led to Viña accidentally deflecting the ball into Cragno’s net, leveling the score.

Before halftime, Szczesny made amends for his earlier mistake by denying a headed attempt, but at the 41st minute, Sassuolo regained the lead.

Berardi struck a precise left-footed shot from outside the box, finding the top corner and making it 2-1 with an excellent assist from Matheus Henrique.

Sassuolo dominates in the second half

The halftime deficit prompted Allegri to make changes at the start of the second half. Iling-Junior and Fagioli came on, while Kostic and Miretti remained in the dressing room. Dionisi also made a substitution, bringing in Viti for Tressoldi.

The first chance of the half was a low free-kick by Chiesa that drifted wide. Sassuolo had a scare in the 58th minute when Berardi committed a poorly timed foul on Bremer, earning a yellow card and inching closer to a red.

Juventus' first league loss (4-2) to Sassuolo saw Szczesny's error, Chiesa's brace, and a late Gatti own goal. Inter leads by 5 points. Sassuolo gains 3 points.

Shortly after, Berardi’s brilliant through-ball was carelessly squandered by Laurienté. Vlahovic later missed a chance while in an offside position. In the 78th minute, Chiesa equalized the score, but the 2-2 deadlock lasted only four minutes.

Pinamonti scored a header, beating Szczesny, who was yet to regain his composure from Laurienté’s earlier goal. In the dramatic closing moments, a shocking twist occurred at the 95th minute: Gatti’s own goal, an ill-advised backpass with Szczesny far out of the goal, sealed the match at 4-2.

Now, Inter can pull away with a 5-point lead over Juventus. Meanwhile, Sassuolo collects 6 points, celebrating their second victory of the season.
