Simone Inzaghi punta a vincere il campionato arabo alla guida dell'Al Hilal, con l'aiuto di un mercato da oltre 100 milioni che sta per vedere l'aggiunta di un pezzo pregiato come Gabriel Martinelli, eppure non dimentica l'Inter, come dimostrano le dichiarazioni rilasciate di recente dal tecnico piacentino.
Simone Inzaghi è infatti tornato a parlare dell'Inter all'inizio della nuova stagione. L'ex tecnico nerazzurro, oggi alla guida dell'Al-Hilal, non ha nascosto l'amore per il club che ha allenato per quattro anni: “All'Inter ho vissuto quattro anni meravigliosi. Abbiamo vinto 6 trofei, giocato 2 finali di Champions e siamo rimasti sempre competitivi”. Le parole di Inzaghi raccontano un legame ancora forte con l'ambiente nerazzurro: l'allenatore guarda oggi l'Inter da lontano ma riconosce il valore del lavoro costruito negli anni precedenti.
Quattro anni super (nonostante i problemi di bilancio) ed un unico rimpianto
Simone Inzaghi ha guidato l'Inter per quattro stagioni, che il tecnico continua a ricordare con affetto e definisce “meravigliose”, nonostante le difficoltà economiche e i problemi di bilancio che la società ha dovuto affrontare. “La dirigenza è stata bravissima, risanando un bilancio vicino al collasso e a me non hanno mai nascosto nulla”. In quegli anni, il club ha dovuto fare i conti con una situazione finanziaria delicata: nonostante ciò, squadra e allenatore sono riusciti a mantenere altissimi i livelli di ambizione, competitività e fame di vittorie. Le difficoltà economiche non sono mai state addotte come alibi, hanno anzi rappresentato uno stimolo per crescere, per consolidare i valori forti alla base del club e fortificare ancora di più la mentalità dell'Inter. Il risultato è stato un ciclo ricco di soddisfazioni: sei trofei conquistati (1 scudetto, quello della seconda stella, 2 Coppe Italia e 3 Supercoppe Italiane) e due finali di Champions League raggiunte (nel 2023 e nel 2025). Proprio uno di quei due match è forse l'unico rimpianto di Inzaghi: la finale contro il Manchester City persa dai nerazzurri per 1 a 0. “Quale partita rigiocherei? la finale di Istanbul, meritavamo di più. Siamo andati vicino a un miracolo sportivo contro la squadra più forte dell'ultimo decennio”. Quella notte l'Inter disputò una gara di grande personalità e avrebbe meritato almeno il gol del pareggio. Una partita rimasta nel cuore del tecnico piacentino, ma anche una ferita ancora aperta, perché quella sera i nerazzurri sono stati ad un passo dal realizzare il sogno più grande.
Pronto per la Premier
Attualmente Inzaghi allena, per il secondo anno consecutivo, l'Al-Hilal. In Arabia le partite di Serie A non vengono trasmesse (si possono vedere solo Premier, Liga e Champions), ma il tecnico non perde una partita del campionato italiano. A suo parere l'Inter parte favorita anche quest'anno, almeno sulla carta. Poi c'è bisogno della conferma del campo, perché le squadre competitive sono molte (dal Milan, al Napoli, alla Juventus, alla Roma e al Como). Per quanto riguarda il suo futuro, Inzaghi pare non preoccuparsene in questo momento: ha voglia di vivere il presente e dare tutto per il club arabo che allena, provando a vincere qualcosa di importante anche lì. “L'anno scorso siamo stati l'unica squadra imbattuta al mondo, quest'anno vogliamo alzare nuovi trofei”.
L'Italia è nel suo cuore, la Premier potrebbe essere un grande stimolo… Inzaghi lascia aperta la porta a un futuro ritorno nel calcio europeo. L'ex Inter non ha indicato una destinazione precisa ma ha ammesso che la Premier League potrebbe essere particolarmente affascinante. Tra l'altro, il suo inglese nell'ultimo anno è migliorato molto, quindi non ci sarebbe nemmeno l'ostacolo della lingua. Dalla Serie A alla Saudi Pro League, il prossimo passo potrebbe quindi riportare Inzaghi in uno scenario europeo. Con l'Inter sempre nel cuore, perché i grandi amori non si dimenticano.

Simone Inzaghi has in fact returned to talk about Inter at the start of the new season. The former Nerazzurri coach, now at the helm of Al-Hilal, did not hide his love for the club he coached for four years: "I lived four wonderful years at Inter. We won 6 trophies, played in 2 Champions League finals and we always remained competitive". Inzaghi's words reveal a still strong bond with the Nerazzurri environment: the coach watches Inter today from afar but recognizes the value of the work built in previous years.

Simone Inzaghi led Inter for four seasons, which the coach continues to remember fondly and defines as "wonderful", despite the economic difficulties and budget problems that the club had to face. “The management was very good, restoring a balance sheet that was close to collapse and they never hid anything from me”. In those years, the club had to deal with a delicate financial situation: despite this, the team and coach managed to maintain very high levels of ambition, competitiveness and hunger for victories. The economic difficulties were never used as an alibi, they actually represented a stimulus to grow, to consolidate the strong values underlying the club and strengthen Inter's mentality even further. The result was a cycle full of satisfactions: six trophies won (1 scudetto, that of the second star, 2 Italian Cups and 3 Italian Super Cups) and two Champions League finals reached (in 2023 and 2025). One of those two matches is perhaps Inzaghi's only regret: the final against Manchester City which the Nerazzurri lost 1-0. "Which match would I replay? The final in Istanbul, we deserved more. We came close to a sporting miracle against the strongest team of the last decade." That night Inter played a match full of character and would have deserved at least the equalizer. A match that remained in the heart of the Piacenza coach, but also a still open wound, because that evening the Nerazzurri were one step away from realizing their greatest dream.
Pronto per la Premier
Inzaghi currently coaches Al-Hilal for the second consecutive year. In Arabia, Serie A matches are not broadcast (only the Premier League, La Liga and Champions League can be seen), but the coach does not miss a match in the Italian championship. In his opinion, Inter are the favorites again this year, at least on paper. Then there is a need to confirm the pitch, because there are many competitive teams (from Milan, to Napoli, to Juventus, to Roma and Como). As for his future, Inzaghi doesn't seem to worry about it at the moment: he wants to live in the present and give everything for the Arab club he coaches, trying to win something important there too. “Last year we were the only undefeated team in the world, this year we want to lift new trophies”.
Italy is in his heart, the Premier League could be a great stimulus... Inzaghi leaves the door open for a future return to European football. The former Inter player did not indicate a specific destination but admitted that the Premier League could be particularly fascinating. By the way, his English has improved a lot in the last year, so there wouldn't even be a language barrier. From Serie A to the Saudi Pro League, the next step could therefore bring Inzaghi back to a European scenario. With Inter always in my heart, because great loves are never forgotten.
