Inter, nothing but a blocked market: over 110 million to build the future

For months there has been talk of an insurmountable ceiling of 25 million for each incoming transaction, imposed by Oaktree management. The numbers tell a very different reality. Inter has in fact invested over 110 million euros in cards alone, a figure that rises further considering salaries, bonuses and commissions. A figure that photographs a summer of important investments and refutes, at least in fact, the idea of a market conditioned by particularly rigid limits.

Tre colpi inglesi

What matters is not only the overall figure, but its distribution. Inter have completed a real trio of signings from the Premier League: John Stones, arrived on a free transfer from Manchester City but with a salary of 4 million net per season plus commissions; Djed Spence, taken from Tottenham for over 30 million; and Curtis Jones, closed with Liverpool for a total of 35 million (30 fixed plus 5 bonus). Three operations with different formulas - a free transfer and two paid cards but all well above the limits that were taken for granted.

Chivu ha chiesto, la società ha risposto

Even on a technical level the signs are clear. Jones was a target indicated directly by Chivu, pursued since January despite Liverpool's resistance on the price: from the 50 million requested, then the negotiation dropped to the 35 of the final agreement. Stones, who arrived on a free transfer, has debunked another alleged veto, the one on over-30 free agents: a two-year contract worth 4 million net per season, a significant investment in terms of wages even without a price tag to pay.

Anche le cessioni fanno cassa

The entry market was also supported by parallel work on exits. Denzel Dumfries moved to Real Madrid, Sebastiano Esposito definitively left Inter for Cagliari (4 million plus percentage on resale) after years of loans around Serie A, and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro was sold to Monza for 7.5 million plus 10% on future resale. To make room in midfield, the transfer of Davide Frattesi to Lazio was also decisive, an operation that unlocked the resources to land the blow on Jones.

I fatti contano più delle narrazioni

Spence for around 35 million, Jones for another 35, Stankovic for 23, Akanji for 15 and Provedel for 3. These five purchases alone bring Inter over the 110 million euro mark in spending on cards. If we then add Stones' salary and the overall costs of the completed operations, the figure grows further. Chivu's requests were satisfied one after the other and the management demonstrated that it was ready to intervene decisively on the market. Net of opinions and reconstructions, it is above all the numbers that tell the extent of the Nerazzurri's investment in the summer of 2026.
