Stefan De Vrij potrebbe rinnovare per continuare a essere un punto di riferimento nel progetto nerazzurro. Dovremo parlarne e rifletterci ma, vista l'esclusione dal prossimo Mondiale, il tempo ci aiuterà sicuramente a prendere la decisione giusta.
Tutto dipenderà da cosa accadrà nei prossimi giorni. Il giocatore e il suo entourage, infatti, non hanno ancora ricevuto segnali concreti da parte del club. Resta quindi da vedere se la storia di De Vrij all'Inter, iniziata nel 2018 dopo l'arrivo dalla Lazio, potrà davvero continuare o se il difensore sceglierà una nuova destinazione.
Il contratto dell'olandese scadrà il 30 giugno e senza la convocazione dell'Olanda tutte le riflessioni saranno fatte con più calma.
Dopo settimane in cui sembrava destinato a dire addio al Diletto a parametro zero, nelle ultime valutazioni della dirigenza sta però prendendo piede l'ipotesi di un rinnovo fino a giugno 2027, probabilmente a cifre inferiori all'attuale ingaggio ma con comunque un ruolo importante all'interno della rosa.
Una stagione migliore alle aspettative
In molti pensavano che il difensore centrale olandese fosse ormai nella fase finale della sua esperienza ad altissimo livello.
Nella stagione 2025-26, invece, De Vrij ha risposto sul campo con prestazioni solide e spesso decisive.
I numeri raccontano una stagione importante: diverse presenze in campionato e coppe, una media di valutazione molto positiva e una prestazione difensiva ancora di alto livello. Anche le statistiche individuali confermano la sua continuità, con una media voto superiore a 7 nelle partite di Serie A finora giocate.
Ma al di là dei dati, a convincere l'Inter è stato soprattutto il modo in cui il forte difensore centrale ha interpretato il suo ruolo.
Mai polemiche, mai tensioni nonostante la concorrenza interna e un minutaggio meno stabile rispetto agli anni precedenti.
Quando veniva chiamato in causa rispondeva sempre di essere presente.
Nonostante tutto, però, la buona volontà e le prestazioni non sono valse al centrale olandese la convocazione del tecnico Koeman per il prossimo Mondiale. I motivi sono sicuramente riconducibili alla mancanza di minutaggio ma anche ad uno stato fisico non al top come spiega il tecnico degli Orange:
"Dagli accertamenti è emerso che c'è un infortunio e che avrebbe avuto bisogno di due settimane per tornare a disposizione. Viene da un periodo con poche partite nelle gambe. Probabilmente è anche questo il motivo per cui riscontra questo tipo di infortunio. Purtroppo siamo stati costretti a cancellarlo dalla lista"
Leadership silenziosa e valore tattico
Mister Cristian Chivu continua a considerare De Vrij un giocatore tatticamente valido e avrebbe espresso apprezzamento per la permanenza del difensore olandese. In una rosa che vedrà inevitabilmente l'inserimento di giocatori più giovani, avere un profilo esperto come quello del difensore centrale nerazzurro è considerato fondamentale per garantire equilibrio, leadership e continuità all'interno dello spogliatoio.
In una squadra che difende in alto e costruisce dal basso, l'esperienza di De Vrij continua ad avere un peso enorme.
La sua capacità di leggere in anticipo le situazioni, guidare la linea difensiva e mantenere l'ordine nei momenti di maggiore pressione rappresenta ancora oggi un valore molto importante, soprattutto nelle partite europee e nelle sfide più delicate della stagione.
Il rapporto con l’Inter non si è mai spezzato
Un altro aspetto che pesa molto sulle riflessioni del club è il forte legame che si è creato tra De Vrij e l'ambiente nerazzurro.
L'olandese è ormai uno dei veterani dello spogliatoio e continua a essere molto apprezzato per la sua professionalità e mentalità.

A 34 anni, De Vrij non è più il difensore dominante che era qualche stagione fa a livello fisico, ma continua a compensare con intelligenza, posizionamento e letture difensive sopra la media.
Ed è forse proprio questo il punto centrale della riflessione nerazzurra.
Nel calcio moderno trovare difensori affidabili, esperti e già perfettamente integrati nei meccanismi tattici non è facile. Per questo la permanenza dell'olandese non è più vista come una soluzione temporanea, ma come una precisa scelta tecnica.
Perché forse oggi non è il nome più mediatizzato della rosa nerazzurra, ma Stefan de Vrij continua comunque a garantire qualcosa che ogni grande squadra cerca disperatamente: la sicurezza.

Never a controversy, never tensions despite the internal competition and a less stable playing time compared to previous years.
When called into question, he always responded to be present.
Despite everything, however, good will and performances did not earn the Dutch center back a call from coach Koeman for the next World Cup. The reasons are certainly attributable to the lack of playing time but also to a physical state that is not at the top as explained by the Orange coach:
"The tests showed that there is an injury and that he would have needed two weeks to be available again. He comes from a period with few games in his legs. This is probably also the reason why he encounters this type of injury. Unfortunately we were forced to cross him off the list"
