Il 2 settembre 2026 rappresenta per l'Inter l'inizio di una nuova era: Dario Baccin diventa il nuovo Chief Sport Officer del club nerazzurro. L'addio di Piero Ausilio all'Inter è stato un fulmine a ciel sereno per i tifosi: dopo 28 anni il dirigente ha lasciato il club con effetto immediato, chiudendo un rapporto che sembrava ormai parte integrante della recente storia nerazzurra. Baccin è arrivato all'Inter nel 2017 come vice di Ausilio, e nel corso degli anni ha assunto responsabilità sempre maggiori all'interno della società, occupandosi principalmente di scouting (con particolare attenzione al Sudamerica). Baccin nasce a Novara 50 anni fa, e inizia la sua carriera da calciatore nella Juventus, per poi proseguire con Napoli e diversi club di provincia. Appesi gli scarpini al chiodo, inizia la sua seconda vita calcistica: ottiene a pieni voti il diploma da Direttore Sportivo a Coverciano e comincia a lavorare come osservatore del Siena. Proprio qui incontra Giorgio Perinetti, figura fondamentale per la sua crescita professionale. Perinetti lo porta nel 2012 a Palermo, dove Baccin diventa direttore dell'area tecnica e responsabile del settore giovanile. Rimane cinque anni in Sicilia, costruendosi una reputazione soprattutto grazie alla capacità di individuare e seguire giovani talenti. Nel 2017 arriva la svolta: l'Inter lo sceglie come vice direttore sportivo ("soffiandolo" a Marotta, che allora lo voleva con sè alla Juventus). Inizialmente braccio destro di Piero Ausilio, nell'estate 2025 gli viene affidato un compito cruciale: la gestione della neonata Inter U23, la seconda squadra nerazzurra, che sceglie Stefano Vecchi come suo primo allenatore. Una caratteristica che lo ha accompagnato negli anni è stata la grande attenzione allo scouting internazionale, con numerosi viaggi soprattutto in Sud America alla ricerca di nuovi talenti.

Blindare i giocatori centrali per il progetto Inter significa dare continuità alla squadra e allo stesso tempo evitare di arrivare alle scadenze con situazioni difficili da gestire. Per Federico Dimarco dovrebbe essere solo questione di tempo: l'Mvp della scorsa stagione non è in discussione, e si troverà certamente una quadra sulle condizioni di rinnovo contrattuale. Anche Carlos Augusto è destinato a continuare la sua avventura in nerazzurro, con le trattative che procedono verso la definizione. Per Baccin le questioni rinnovi saranno una delle prime occasioni per dimostrare di essere pronto a raccogliere il testimone da Ausilio.
