Nelle scorse ore si è tenuta la conferma ufficiale e la presentazione del nuovo corso azzurro guidato dal presidente della FIGC, Giovanni Malagò. Al suo fianco, per inaugurare la rifondazione delle selezioni azzurre, erano presenti il nuovo commissario tecnico Roberto Mancini e Ranieri nel ruolo di nuovo direttore tecnico della Nazionale e presidente del Club Italia.Un doppio innesto per ridare entusiasmo all'ambiente e tracciare una linea chiara per il futuro del calcio italiano, combinando la conoscenza del campo di Mancini con la grande esperienza e visione strategica del tecnico romano.
Il ritorno di Mancini e le ambizioni del nuovo commissario tecnico
Per Mancini si tratta di un ritorno importante sulla panchina azzurra. Il tecnico ha aperto la conferenza con parole chiare e dirette: "3 anni fa c'è stata una mancanza di comunicazione tra me e il presidente Gravina, ho fatto degli errori e mi dispiace per tutto. Ora sono qui e ringrazio il presidente Malagò per questa opportunità". Gestire la pressione fa parte del ruolo, ma il nuovo ct punta al lavoro pratico per superare lo scetticismo: "Quando sei il ct c'è sempre pressione, ci sono polemiche ma passeranno con il lavoro. Ci sono tanti giocatori e va data fiducia, in 3 mesi può cambiare tutto: Zaniolo non aveva giocato in Serie A e al primo raduno faceva difficoltà, 3 mesi dopo è completamente cambiato". Mancini ha poi ribadito l'importanza di creare un'identità tattica unica lungo tutto la filiera azzurra: "Allora contano gli uomini, bisogna adattarsi ai giocatori. Le nazionali, almeno la 20, 21 e 19, devono giocare e avere lo stesso sistema di gioco quando le chiamiamo, anche l'Under 18". Il tecnico ha infine tracciato l'orizzonte del suo mandato: "Io quando sono arrivato sono stato 5 anni, stavo benissimo. Ho un contratto di 4 anni e spero di vincere 1 o 2 trofei importanti".
Il ruolo di direttore tecnico e la visione sul vivaio italiano
Per Ranieri la nomina a direttore tecnico rappresenta la coronamento di una carriera straordinaria. Presentatosi con la solita schiettezza, ha esordito dicendo: "È il coronamento di una carriera. Ero al mare come si può notare! C'è da lavorare, la situazione è difficile ed è arduo. Il mio obiettivo sarà far innamorare i tifosi e riportare l'Italia ai Mondiali".Il nuovo DT ha poi messo al centro del suo intervento la ristrutturazione del calcio giovanile in Italia: "Tutto quello che c'è di buono va portato avanti. Quando Maldini disse che ci vorranno 10 anni è perché ci sono dei ragazzi con cui bisogna lavorare dai 10 ai 14-15 anni, poi ci sono più tattiche. Devo prendere dei ragazzi di 10, 12 e 14 anni, migliorarli e fare in modo che esca il loro miglior potenziale. Prima c'erano meno scuole calcio ma si giocava in piazza, chiesa, parrocchie, con più dribbling; ora si va solo di passaggi. Bisogna fare esprimere il ragazzo, poi inquadrarlo e aiutarlo. Mi farò dare questo programma e lo migliorerò".Inoltre, Ranieri ha sollevato la questione delle opportunità per gli azzurri nei club: "Ci sono tanti ragazzi che vanno migliorati e provati, bisogna provare. In Europa c'era il blocco per cui non si poteva avere più di 3 stranieri, adesso ci sono squadre con solo stranieri. Bisogna dare l'opportunità di poter scegliere: gli allenatori devono vincere, mi auguro però che tutte le componenti possano permettere di far giocare più italiani". Interpellato infine sui contatti avuti in passato con la Federazione, ha concluso: "Non mi sono pentito di non essere diventato ct allora, non potevo interrompere un contratto specialmente con il mio club, ovvero la Roma. Ci sarebbero stati dei problemi con la società; a malincuore poteva essere la chiusura della mia carriera".

A simboleggiare l'inizio di questo nuovo corso è la totale sintonia del duo prescelto per guidare la FIGC. "Lavorare al fianco di una figura dal valore umano e professionale come Claudio sarà una risorsa inestimabile per me e per tutti i ragazzi", ha tenuto a precisare Mancini, sottolineando come la presenza del direttore tecnico permetterà una gestione più fluida del gruppo. Gli fa eco lo stesso Ranieri, ribadendo la centralità della collaborazione sul campo e fuori: "Con Roberto c'è un'intesa naturale, parliamo la stessa lingua calcistica. Il nostro ticket nasce per unire le forze e mettere l'esperienza al servizio di una sola grande priorità: far tornare la Nazionale il punto di riferimento del calcio mondiale".

Mancini then reiterated the importance of creating a unique tactical identity throughout the Azzurri supply chain: "Then the men count, we need to adapt to the players. The national teams, at least the 20, 21 and 19, must play and have the same game system when we call them, even the Under 18". The coach finally outlined the horizon of his mandate: "When I arrived I spent 5 years, I was fine. I have a 4-year contract and I hope to win 1 or 2 important trophies".

For Ranieri, the appointment as technical director represents the culmination of an extraordinary career. The new DT then put the restructuring of youth football in Italy at the center of his speech: "Everything that's good must be carried forward. When Maldini said that it will take 10 years it's because I'm there of the kids you have to work with from 10 to 14-15 years old, then there are more tactics. I have to take 10, 12 and 14 year olds, improve them and make sure that their best potential comes out. Before there were fewer football schools but we played in the square, church, parishes, with more dribbling; now we just have to make the boy express himself, then help him. Ranieri raised the issue of opportunities for the Azzurri in the clubs: "There are many boys who need to be improved and tested, we need to try. In Europe there was the block so you couldn't have more than 3 foreigners, now there are teams with only foreigners. Our ticket was created to join forces and put experience at the service of one great priority: making the national team once again the point of reference for world football".
