Inter, season worthy of applause: doubles and goals, now popcorn to watch the others play for the Champions League

The extraordinary Nerazzurri season ends with a 3-3 at Bologna. A year that started on an uphill climb and ended in the best possible way. A double that allowed Inter to forget the disappointments of last season, a combination of the Championship and the Italian Cup that came against all odds. Benemata, what for many was a finished team, to be re-founded has accomplished a real feat where one of the main architects is the now former intern Chivu. The Romanian coach took over a group in difficulty, a group that was certainly destroyed from a mental point of view, and brought it to the top, where a club like the Nerazzurri deserves to be. Hard work and silence made the difference. At Inter we have always preferred to let the pitch do the talking. Despite a not exactly simple start to the season, in which there were already those who were talking about an exemption for the Romanian, the commitment, dedication and consistency but also the malice and the desire to demonstrate who Inter really are have paid off and given the desired results.

A year in which many men were rediscovered, starting with the king of assists and MVP of the 2025/2026 Serie A Federico Dimarco. A boy who was considered finished and who instead demonstrated game after game, until the last day, that he had exaggerated class and still had a lot to give to the team he loved. Chivu placed great trust in him, entrusted him with the left flank regularly and he repaid him with assists and goals.

Zielinski

The number 32 is not the only one to have appeared this season completely made of another cloth. Just think of Zielinski who from reserve has become one of the key men in the race for the double.

We cannot fail to mention Diouf who scored his first goal in Serie A on the last day of the championship, a seal that certifies how much he too has grown this season. Having arrived last summer he struggled, at least initially, to fit in then he became foul-mouthed. A rediscovered player who, when he had the opportunity, showed his qualities and showed that, even in this case, the sums had been drawn too soon. The Frenchman has in fact shown that he can be an Inter player, as also underlined by Chivu at the end of the match against Bologna: "Diouf will have a great future. He deserved to play like this. It's the same as months ago when someone criticized him, the road is still long but he showed that he belongs to Inter but he showed it straight away."

This is just to name a few. Chivu was able to fit into the locker room in the best possible way and to strike the right chords both as an individual and as a group, so much so that he earned an unquestionable 10 from all his players at the end of the extraordinary season.

Inter record di gol segnati

Lautaro Thuram

An extraordinary year characterized by two trophies but also by a shower of goals. The snake ended the season with 89 goals scored in Serie A, equaling the historic record of goals achieved in the technical management of Antonio Conte (in the 2020-21 season) and Simone Inzaghi (in the 2023-24 season).

A shower of goals which certainly played a crucial role in winning the title and which tell better than any words the growth of a team capable of rediscovering brilliance, hunger and cynicism in front of goal.

Now it's time to stop, rest, recover energy and prepare as best as possible for the next season in which the arduous task will be to reconfirm oneself. Chivu seems to already have very clear ideas: “This season we spent a lot, now we have two trophies on our board and we need a nice holiday. But out of obligation we have to think about next season. We have already planned the future, we want it to be up to par with this club."

And while the Nerazzurri season has therefore come to an end, the rivals will experience one last exhilarating day in which the last two places in the Champions League will be assigned.

Inter have already done theirs, lifting two trophies and finishing with an avalanche of goals. Now all you have to do is sit back on the sofa, popcorn in hand, and enjoy the show: Milan, Roma, Juventus and Como will all be played in ninety minutes. In Viale della Liberazione they can limit themselves to observing.
