I tentativi di rinascita
Nel gennaio 2024 l'inglese tornò in prestito al Borussia Dortmund, ritrovando fiducia e contribuendo al cammino dei gialloneri fino alla finale di Champions League. Successivamente arrivò il Chelsea, dove fece rivedere lampi del vecchio The Rocket, contribuendo anche alla vittoria della Conference League, ma senza convincere il club londinese a puntare su di lui a titolo definitivo. Anche la successiva esperienza all'Aston Villa non è bastata per rilanciare completamente la sua carriera, lasciando la sensazione di un talento mai davvero sbocciato dopo l'addio alla Bundesliga.
