The end of the competitive season in Italian women's football is approaching with the Italian Women's Cup final bringing the curtain down on the year. In fact, on Sunday 24 June, with kick-off set for 6pm, Juventus and Roma will be on the pitch. The 'classic' of Italian women's football returns to the 'Romeo Menti' stadium in Vicenza, which will see the Bianconeri and Capitoline compete for the last title up for grabs of the 2025/2026 football season.

The trophy that pits Serie A and B clubs against each other, from the preliminary round to the final in a single match, was won last year by Juventus over Roma in Como with a 4-0 victory in the first half with a brace from Girelli and the signatures of Thomas and Cantore. In 2023-2024 it was Roma who rejoiced over Fiorentina, on penalties, at the Manuzzi stadium in Cesena after a 3-3 draw in regulation time. Back and forth at the start with Giacinti responding to Hammarlund while Janogy with a brace seems to tip the scales on the Viola side. However, Minami in the half hour of the second half and Viens in the 90th minute took the match to extra time until Roma won from the spot. Previously in 2023 at Arechi in Salerno it was Barbara Bonansea, in full recovery, who handed the Cup to Juve with a 1-0 success over Roma who was also defeated in 2021-22 by Juve at Mazza in Ferrara 2-1. After Alves' Giallorossi lead towards the end of the match, Girelli equalized the score and Gama made the overtaking move. Finally, in 2020, Roma overcame Milan on penalties in Reggio Emilia after a 0-0 draw in regulation time, winning their first Italian Women's Cup.

Also this year, 26 teams (12 from Serie A Women and 14 from Serie B) officially participated in the Italian Women's Cup.
