In the first Serie A advance, Inter needed only 45 minutes to close out the game at the Bentegodi against Verona. Despite some important absences, Inzaghi’s Inter overwhelmed Hellas Verona with a clear 5-0 victory.
The Nerazzurri dominated from the first half, sending Zanetti’s men into meltdown with Correa opening the scoring in the 17th minute with a nice touch underneath, followed by a Thuram double in the 22nd and 25th minutes.
De Vrij in the 31st minute and Bisseck in the 41st minute rounded off the scoring, sending the Italian champions into the dressing room with a five-goal lead. The second half was a mere formality, with Inter momentarily moving to the top of the table with 28 points.
Inter rediscovered Correa, the Argentine managed to do in less than twenty minutes what he had not yet managed to show in the three years since his arrival.
Milan and Juventus draw
Milan and Juventus drew 0-0 at the San Siro. Paulo Fonseca’s men and Thiago Motta’s men shared the stakes without managing to hurt each other and without providing any emotions. Tactics prevailed over spectacle, with few, if any, goal occasions. A white-net draw that was fair for what was seen on the pitch and that brings the Rossoneri to minus 9 from the Nerazzurri cousins, with one game less
Atalanta first in Serie A with merit
Atalanta won 3-1 on the pitch against Parma, taking their seventh victory in a row and hooking Inter into first place in the standings. At the Tardini, La Dea played a spectacular first half, unlocking the match on 4 minutes with a header from Retegui.
The Var denied Lookman’s double, but the Bergamasks created plenty of chances, finding the second goal through Ederson in the 39th minute. Suzuki saved on Lookman and Ruggeri, while the hosts woke up in the final minutes, with Carnesecchi denying attempts by Bonny and Valeri.
At the start of the second half, Cancellieri shortened the gap in the 49th minute, rekindling the Ducals’ hopes, which were extinguished by Lookman in the 75th minute. In the final, Scalvini was back on the pitch after his bad injury.
The pressure will now pass to Napoli, who will receive Ranieri’s Roma for a challenge that, in addition to Sir Claudio’s return to the Giallorossi bench, will see whether Conte’s Azzurri will be able to withstand the pressure of the Nerazzurri in Milan and Bergamo.
