Roma defeated Napoli 2-0 in the last match of the 17th round of Serie A, reaching 28 points and overtaking the blues in the standings. The battle at the Olimpico was full of cards and the turning point was Politano’s red card (reaction) at the 66th minute.

Roma needed only ten minutes of numerical superiority and some substitutions to unlock the game with a nice goal by Pellegrini in the penalty area. In the final minutes, Osimhen was also sent off and Lukaku’s second goal at the 96th minute sealed Napoli’s sixth defeat in the league under Mazzarri.

Bisseck and Barella give the Nerazzurri victory, Falcone saves the impossible

Serie A is still neck-and-neck between Inter and Juventus; AC Milan is still losing ground and sees Bologna approaching on just two points

Inter beat Lecce 2-0 in the 17th round of Serie A and put some pressure on Juventus, the leader of the league. Without Lautaro Martinez, the nerazzurri had to thank Bisseck and Barella: the German defender scored his first goal in Serie A (43′) with a header, after hitting the crossbar shortly before; the Italian international closed the match, after a splendid heel flick by Arnautovic, not missing one-on-one with Falcone, the best of the salentini with a series of incredible saves.

The Bianconeri remain -4 from Serie A leaders Inter

Juventus beat Frosinone 2-1 in the lunch match of the 17th round of Serie A and got closer to Inter, the top of the table. The bianconeri broke the deadlock at the 12th minute with a gem by the 2005-born Yildiz (initially preferred to Vlahovic), who scored his first goal in bianconero on his first start.

At the beginning of the second half, Baez found the deserved equaliser for the hosts, but at the 81st minute the substitute Vlahovic fixed things, with a great header on McKennie’s assist: the move that was worth the three points.

Ferguson makes the Bologna dream come true

Bologna beat Atalanta 1-0 in the direct clash of the 17th round of Serie A and are fourth in the standings, only two points behind the third place of Milan. At the Dall’Ara, after many chances, the decisive header was scored at the 86th minute by Ferguson on a corner kick taken by Orsolini, who came on in the second half. Gasperini’s team regretted the opportunities wasted by De Ketelaere, Lookman and Muriel and moved away from the Champions League zone.

Verona win 2-0 against Cagliari and end their Serie A drought

Verona won 2-0 against Cagliari in the match valid for the 17th round of Serie A and ended their four-month winless streak. The opener was scored by Ngonge at the 53rd minute, coming right after Makoumbou’s dismissal for a second yellow card, then Djuric sealed the victory at the 90th minute on Mboula’s assist. Baroni’s men climbed to 14 points in the standings, one more than the sardinians, who were overtaken in the table.

Zarraga and Ilic sign the equaliser, Torino’s opportunity wasted

Torino and Udinese drew 1-1 in the 17th round of Serie A, with many regrets for the granata: Juric’s team controlled the match from the early stages, increasing the intensity in the second half. At the 81st minute, Zarraga’s goal froze the Olimpico, with Ilic saving the hosts at the 88th minute with a wrong cross that however ended up behind Silvestri. The Toro rose to 24 points in the standings, a step forward also for Cioffi, now at 14 points.
