The thirty-second day of Serie A, after the early match between Lazio and Salernitana, saw important matches for salvation and Europe.
Lecce made a significant leap towards safety with a crucial 1-0 victory over Empoli. This result gives Gotti’s team a temporary lead of +6 points over the relegation zone, occupied by Frosinone. At the Via del Mare stadium, a goal cancelled out for Alberto Cerri due to a hand foul kept the score in the balance until Nicola Sansone found the decisive goal in the 90th minute, exploiting an assist from Alessandro Pierotti and a mistake by Sebastian Walukiewicz.
Derby della Mole in Serie A
The Derby della Mole between Torino and Juventus ended in a goalless draw, 0-0. Despite numerous chances created, especially by Juventus with Dusan Vlahovic hitting a post and then being stopped by Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, the result remained unchanged. Ivan Juric’s sending-off added further tension to the match, but did not change the outcome. Juventus remained third in the standings, -5 behind AC Milan.
Bologna remains -4 to Juventus
Bologna and Monza ended their encounter with another draw, 0-0, the second consecutive one for Bologna after the one against Frosinone. Despite a remarkable performance by Riccardo Orsolini, Bologna were unable to overcome an in-form Alessandro Di Gregorio. Monza, dangerous only with Djuric and Colpani, brought home a precious point. Thiago Motta and his team remain third, -4 from Juventus.
With the end of the championship approaching, the tension becomes more and more palpable, and the fight both at the top and at the bottom of the standings promises to be heated until the last whistle of the referee. Serie A will continue with Sunday’s matches that will see milan take on Sassuolo in Reggio Emilia while Inter will receive Cagliari at the San Siro to get even closer to the Scudetto.
