The Italian Serie A resumed after the winter break with some exciting matches and surprising results. Here is a summary of the main highlights from round 20.

Milan beat Roma 3-1 with French flair

Milan secured three points with a strong French accent against Roma at the San Siro. The Rossoneri of Pioli extended their lead in third place with their transalpine talents.

Adli scored his first goal in Serie A for Milan at the 11th minute, then Giroud doubled the lead at the same minute of the second half with a header from Kjaer’s assist. At the Franchi, the first half was all Udinese’s: Lovric (10’) broke the deadlock on a counterattack, then Terracciano was forced to make some great saves on Lucca, Pereyra and Samardzic.

Lazio beat Lecce 1-0 and continue their chase for Champions League spot in serie A

Lazio claimed their fourth consecutive win and continued their pursuit of a Champions League spot by beating Lecce 1-0 at the Olimpico. After a dull first half, in which the visitors played better, the Biancocelesti found the winning goal thanks to Felipe Anderson, who capitalized on a delightful assist from Luis Alberto at the 13th minute.

In the final minutes, Ciro Immobile also came back on the pitch. Now Sarri’s thoughts go to the Italian Super Cup: on Friday in Saudi Arabia, the semi-final against Inter. Zaccagni and Immobile, both booked, will miss the match with Napoli.

Cagliari stun Bologna 2-1 and escape relegation Serie A zone

While in the second half, Calafiori’s own goal (69’) decided the match. Ranieri’s team left Verona behind by one point, while the Felsinei slipped to sixth place, waiting for Atalanta and Roma.
