The national team break is also a time for clubs to check whether the market choices made last summer were right: at the seventh day, Serie A 2024-2025 shows a landscape of ups and downs compared to the same stage last season.
Napoli managed to stay competitive, improving by only two points compared to the seventh day of last season, and topping the table with 16 points.
The real surprise, however, is Udinese, who gained 9 more points to 13 points. Lazio did equally well, improving by 6 points and also reaching 13 points.
Empoli showed remarkable progress, rising 7 points to enter the top ten. Torino also took a small step forward, gaining 2 more points than last season.
Milan and Atalanta were poor performers in Serie A
On the opposite front, Milan suffered a significant drop, losing 7 points and dropping to 11 points total. After the Pioli era, the Rossoneri seem to be struggling to regain the rhythm and consistency of previous seasons.
Atalanta saw a drop of 6 points, while Inter, who had won 6 out of 7 games last year, lost 4 points. Roma and Juventus had smaller drops of 2 and 1 point respectively.
With the break for the national teams, it is clear that some teams have found a new lease of life, while others are still looking for the right set-up.
Only the field will give the answers to our questions, but now it is time for rest and the national team break, with the hope that this break will not bring bad news to the Serie A clubs.
