Manchester City is preparing to say goodbye to Pep Guardiola after ten years that have changed the history of the club forever. According to the latest rumors arriving from England, the Catalan coach has already communicated to the owners his desire to leave the Etihad at the end of the season, despite a contract valid until 2027. The official farewell could arrive in the next few hours, even before the last match of the Premier League.
Pep ha scritto pagine di storia con il City
City is therefore preparing for the end of an era. Since his arrival in 2016, Guardiola has transformed the Citizens into one of the most dominant teams in world football, winning the Premier League, domestic cups and above all the historic 2023 Champions League, a first for the club. A decade full of successes that brought the English club into the absolute elite of European football. Pep bids farewell after recently winning one last title to add to his already vast palmares: the FA Cup, his third with the Citizens. 20 trophies lifted in this decade: 1 Champions League, 6 Premier League, 1 European Super Cup, 1 Club World Cup, 3 FA Cup, 5 EFL, 3 Community Shield.
Scelto il successore: Maresca

But the management would have already chosen the successor: Enzo Maresca will take up Guardiola's legacy on the Manchester City bench. The former Chelsea manager has in fact already reached an agreement in principle with the English club for a three-year contract, with the parties now finalizing the final details.
Maresca's choice would not be accidental. The Italian coach convinced City thanks to the excellent work shown in recent seasons, especially during his experience at Chelsea, where he highlighted a playing identity very close to that of Guardiola. Added to this is the fact that he already knows the Citizens environment perfectly: in the past he was Pep's deputy and also worked in the club's youth sector, participating as a protagonist in the Treble season.
In recent weeks, other names for the post-Guardiola position had also been circulated. Among these that of Xabi Alonso, who however went to Chelsea with whom he signed an agreement until 2030, and that of Vincent Kompany, destined to remain at Bayern Munich for at least another season.
Now, barring sensational twists, the future of Manchester City speaks Italian: Enzo Maresca will be the man called to open a new era after the legendary one signed by Pep Guardiola.
