L'avventura di Roberto Mancini sulla panchina dell'Al Sadd è ufficialmente terminata. Nelle ultime ore il club qatariota ha pubblicato sui propri canali social un video-messaggio realizzato in collaborazione con l'allenatore italiano, nel quale l'ex commissario tecnico della Nazionale ha salutato e ringraziato società, calciatori e tifosi per l'esperienza vissuta in Qatar.
"Grazie a tutti, sarete sempre nel mio cuore", il messaggio affidato da Mancini ai social del club, che a sua volta ha voluto ringraziare il tecnico augurandogli il meglio per il futuro.

Un addio che arriva dopo una stagione positiva, culminata con la conquista della Qatar Stars League e della Qatar-UAE Super Cup.
Arrivato sulla panchina dell'Al Sadd nel novembre 2025, Mancini ha guidato la squadra in 25 partite ufficiali, collezionando 17 vittorie, un pareggio e 7 sconfitte. Numeri che gli hanno consentito di riportare il club ai vertici del calcio qatariota e di aggiungere altri trofei al proprio palmarès da allenatore.

Adesso l'attenzione si sposta inevitabilmente sul futuro. E tutte le strade sembrano portare nuovamente alla Nazionale italiana. Da settimane il nome di Mancini è il principale candidato per la panchina azzurra e la separazione dall'Al Sadd lo rende di fatto libero da qualsiasi vincolo contrattuale.
Le indiscrezioni più recenti parlano di un accordo ormai vicino per il ritorno dell'allenatore che nel 2021 portò l'Italia alla conquista del Campionato Europeo. Restano da definire alcuni passaggi legati agli assetti federali e alle prossime decisioni della FIGC, ma la sensazione è che il ritorno di Mancini alla guida degli Azzurri possa essere ormai soltanto una questione di tempo anche perchè la sua volontà è molto forte.
