Il calciomercato è ufficialmente iniziato. Nella serata di lunedì 29 giugno è andato in scena a Rimini l'evento di inaugurazione ufficiale della sessione estive del 2026. Proprio in questa sede il direttore sportivo dell'Inter, Piero Ausilio, è intervenuto parlando di vari aspetti del mondo nerazzurro: dal mercato alle vittorie, togliendosi anche qualche sassolino dalle scarpe.
Inter, Ausilio: “Abbiamo vinto due titoli, si dimentica troppo in fretta”
Non sono passate inosservate alcune critiche nei confronti del mercato dell'Inter, soprattutto dopo la recente delusione per il mancato arrivo di Palestra. Ausilio ha voluto ricordare i recenti successi nerazzurri, che sembrano essere passati di mente a molti dopo pochissimo tempo:
“C'è troppa fretta e troppa mediaticità intorno al mercato dell'Inter. Poco tempo fa abbiamo vinto uno Scudetto e una Coppa Italia, mi sembra che si sia consumato troppo in fretta tutto quello che di bello abbiamo fatto. Il mercato dura due mesi e faremo tutto quello che dobbiamo fare per migliorare la squadra senza problemi”.
Il mercato nerazzurro: da Palestra e Nico Paz ai possibili colpi
La trattativa più importante di questo inizio di mercato è stata quella legata a Marco Palestra, che ha scelto il Chelsea. Queste le parole di Ausilio su di essa:
E' il calcio. Sono dinamiche normali, questa di Palestra ha avuto una risonanza per la mediaticità che aveva. Non ci siamo mai nascosti, abbiamo fatto un'offerta importante, non c'è niente da recriminare, abbiamo fatto quello che si poteva fare. Se arriva un club che fa quella proposta, è legittimo che il ragazzo la consideri. Dal mio punto di vista il progetto dell'Inter per lui era valido ma avevano il diritto di scegliere, faremo qualcos'altro anche noi.
Qualche parola il direttore l'ha spesa anche sull'altro sogno di mercato, Nico Paz. Il giocatore ha poi scelto di accasarsi al Como, dove ha trascorso le ultime due stagioni:
“Ho letto e sentito tante cose, con Nico Paz non abbiamo mai fatto nulla semplicemente perché lavoriamo su altre situazioni e abbiamo altre priorità come il difensore centrale”.
Proprio a proposito di quel ruolo, in cui l'Inter deve piazzare almeno due colpi, Ausilio ha dichiarato:
“Solet è un'opzione ma ce ne sono altre, non sono così sicuro che possa essere lui. Non abbiamo nessuna fretta, siamo in grado di iniziare il campionato con la squadra che abbiamo ma abbiamo voglia di aggiungere qualcosa. Ci sono tanti nomi, li leggo da voi e alcuni non li consideriamo. Chalobah è al Mondiale, ce ne sono tanti altri. Insieme all'allenatore stiamo valutando”.
L'esterno destro rimane il focus principale dei nerazzurri, che stanno sondando vari nomi tra cui Khalaili, in forza all'Union Saint Gilloise e cercato dal Napoli.
“Khalaili? Faremo un esterno destro, Dumfries andrà via ed è assodato ma non ci faremo trovare impreparati. Ci sono tanti ragazzi interessanti, non c'è fretta e prenderemo un esterno”.
Come ultimo ma non meno importante ha citato l'arrivo probabile di un centrocampista. Oltre a ribadire la fiducia su Stankovic, tornato all'Inter dopo un anno al Club Brugge, ha citato Curtis Jones, già attenzionato dal club a gennaio, ma che ha un costo molto elevato.
Jones? Non ho mai negato l'interesse, a gennaio ci abbiamo provato. Devo essere sincero, ci piace, ha caratteristiche che possono dare qualcosa in più al nostro centrocampo ma c'è una distanza importante tra la nostra valutazione e quella del Liverpool, in questo momento è un'operazione molto difficile.
Ausilio: “Meglio un colpo funzionale che uno ad effetto. Trequartista? Non nel 3-5-2”
Da anni si parla di una mancanza di inventiva e dribbling nell'Inter, cosa che un numero 10 classico potrebbe portare. Ausilio però non è dello stesso avviso, soprattutto conoscendo i dettami tattici e lo schieramento adottato da Cristian Chivu:
“L'importante è parlare di colpo funzionale, non di grande colpo. Il grande colpo è quello che si dimostra funzionale, non è la somma che spendi che stabilisce che un giocatore è forte. Noi stiamo cercando quello che ci manca, non per forza stiamo cercando la mediaticità che piace tanto fuori. Per funzionale intendo uno che porti all'Inter quel qualcosa in più, abbiamo una squadra forte. Abbiamo 4 attaccanti che ci invidiano tutti. Il trequartista nel 3-5-2 non esiste, l'allenatore dell'Inter gioca il 3-5-2”.
L'importanza di Marotta e la nuova proprietà
Un altro tema trattato da Ausilio è sicuramente quello legato alla nuova proprietà. Da ormai due stagioni l'Inter è passata nelle mani del fondo Oaktree, che sul mercato ha una visione ben precisa. Il focus è il player trading, ovvero l'acquisto di giocatori e a cifre ridotte e la loro valorizzazione per generare futuri introiti dalle cessioni. Il DS ha parlato della proprietà e dell'importanza di Beppe Marotta nel ruolo di presidente:
“Marotta, che ha fatto anche il ds tanti anni, è diventato più cattivello adesso da presidente. Da amministratore delegato era più dalla nostra parte. Fortunatamente è un tramite con la proprietà, riesce a essere più presente con loro. La nostra proprietà è un po' particolare e avere un tramite tra noi area sport e loro ci aiuta a trasmettere le nostre idee. A volte si riesce bene, altre meno bene. Comunque il 99% delle cose scritte, dette o raccontate, sono bugie. Dico bugie ma potrei usare anche un altro termine. Fa parte del gioco, lo sappiamo anche noi".

Some criticisms of Inter's transfer market have not gone unnoticed, especially after the recent disappointment over Palestra's failure to arrive. Ausilio wanted to remember the Nerazzurri's recent successes, which seem to have slipped the minds of many after a very short time:
"There is too much haste and too much media coverage around the Inter transfer market. Not long ago we won a Scudetto and an Italian Cup, it seems to me that all the good things we have done have been consumed too quickly. The transfer market lasts two months and we will do everything we have to do to improve the team without problems."
Il mercato nerazzurro: da Palestra e Nico Paz ai possibili colpi
The most important negotiation of this start of the transfer window was the one linked to Marco Palestra, who chose Chelsea. These are Ausilio's words on it:
It's football. These are normal dynamics, this one from Palestra had a resonance due to the media coverage it had. We never hid, we made an important offer, there is nothing to complain about, we did what we could do. If a club comes along and makes that proposal, it is legitimate for the boy to consider it. From my point of view, Inter's project was valid for him but they had the right to choose, we will do something else too.
The director also spent a few words on the other transfer dream, Nico Paz. The player then chose to move to Como, where he spent the last two seasons:
“I have read and heard many things, we have never done anything with Nico Paz simply because we work on other situations and have other priorities such as the central defender”.
Precisely regarding that role, in which Inter must place at least two shots, Ausilio declared:
"Solet is an option but there are others, I'm not so sure it could be him. We are in no rush, we are able to start the championship with the team we have but we want to add something. There are many names, I read them from you and some we don't consider. Chalobah is at the World Cup, there are many others. Together with the coach we are evaluating."
The right winger remains the main focus of the Nerazzurri, who are exploring various names including Khalaili, currently playing for Union Saint Gilloise and being sought by Napoli.
"Khalaili? We'll make a right winger, Dumfries will leave and it's a given but we won't be caught unprepared. There are many interesting guys, there's no rush and we'll take a winger."
Last but not least he mentioned the probable arrival of a midfielder. In addition to reiterating his faith in Stankovic, who returned to Inter after a year at Club Brugge, he mentioned Curtis Jones, who was already under the club's attention in January, but who comes at a very high cost.
Jones? I never denied interest, we tried in January. I have to be honest, we like him, he has characteristics that can give something more to our midfield but there is an important distance between our evaluation and that of Liverpool, at the moment it is a very difficult operation.

For years there has been talk of a lack of inventiveness and dribbling at Inter, something that a classic number 10 could bring. Ausilio, however, is not of the same opinion, especially knowing the tactical dictates and the deployment adopted by Cristian Chivu:
"The important thing is to talk about a functional shot, not a great shot. The big shot is the one that proves to be functional, it's not the amount you spend that establishes that a player is strong. We are looking for what we lack, we are not necessarily looking for the media coverage that is so popular outside. By functional I mean someone who brings that something extra to Inter, we have a strong team. We have 4 attackers who all envy us. The attacking midfielder in the 3-5-2 does not exist, the Inter coach plays the 3-5-2”.
L'importanza di Marotta e la nuova proprietà
Another topic covered by Ausilio is certainly that linked to the new ownership. For the past two seasons, Inter has been in the hands of the Oaktree fund, which has a very specific vision on the market. The focus is player trading, i.e. the purchase of players at reduced prices and their valorisation to generate future income from sales. The DS spoke about the ownership and the importance of Beppe Marotta in the role of president:
"Marotta, who was also the sporting director for many years, has become nastier now as president. As CEO he was more on our side. Fortunately he is an intermediary with the ownership, he manages to be more present with them. Our ownership is a bit particular and having an intermediary between us in the sports area and them helps us to transmit our ideas. Sometimes we succeed well, others less well. However, 99% of the things written, said or told, are lies. I say lies but I could also use another term. It is part of game, we know it too."
