After winning the Doblere, Inter think it is inevitable that it will be next season. With the start of the market now around the corner in Viale della Liberazione, the wish list comes to an end. the Nerazzurri should strengthen various areas of the pitch also given the players they will be saying goodbye to: from goal to defence, passing through a very dense midfield. If we look at the right lane, the Nerazzurri management would have quite clear ideas: they have already firmly set their sights on Buccinasco's arrow. Marco Palestra's profile has jumped to the top of the wish list on Viale della Liberazione, bringing together all the souls of the club, from the technical management to Christian Chivu. An increasingly substantial survey, which could take a different turn even in the case of Dumfries staying, as discussed in the meeting held in the last few days at the headquarters of the Italian champions. In short, in the "Gym of life" of the summer transfer market, the Cagliari train would be one of the most accredited names to wear the shirt with the tricolor on the chest and the rosette of the tenth Italian Cup.
Il "Sì" di Chivu e il gradimento totale
During the summit between the management and Cristian Chivu, the name of the winger owned by Atalanta (this year's protagonist on loan to Cagliari) received the definitive green light. The coach and managers are convinced that the 2005 class is the ideal fit for the Nerazzurri mechanisms. A ray of sunshine that would guarantee more offensive variations, numbers, speed and dribbling.
The real news, however, concerns the methods of the operation: Inter would be ready to attempt the move regardless of Denzel Dumfries' future. Even if the Dutchman were to remain in Milan for the last season of his contract, the club wants to bring forward the time to guarantee generational change. On Denzel, now thirty years old, there is little chance that his future in Italy will continue for more than one season. In fact, most likely, they may part ways at the expiry of the agreement, with Inter waiting for a proposal from the Premier League regarding the 25 million clause. Gym therefore represents the perfect investment in perspective but with an amount to invest that is not exactly economical.
L'assalto alla "Bottega" orobica
Dealing with the Percassi family, as we know, is never a simple undertaking - the Lookman affair that took place last summer is a lesson - but the current economic scenario could work in favor of the Nerazzurri from Milan. In a year in which Atalanta will have to do without the income guaranteed by the Champions League, the historic Orobic intransigence on the valuations of their jewels could leave room for a more open dialogue. The starting point set for Marco Palestra is around 40 million euros, an important figure which Inter however aims to soften through a creative structure, studying the inclusion of some technical counterparts to lower the cash outlay.
The sustainability of the operation would depend on a treasure built with extreme care: the necessary funds would in fact be guaranteed by the sales of Luis Henrique, already in the sights of the Premier League (with Bournemouth in the front row) since last January, and a possible departure of Andy Diouf.
What definitively bewitched the management and the technical staff, however, was not only the physical strength of the boy, but his incredible tactical flexibility. Thanks to a natural ambidexterity, Palestra represents a real wild card for Chivu's board: the coach is in fact convinced that the 2005 class can act extremely naturally even on the left-handed lane. This ability to alternate with Dimarco, in addition to guarding the right wing, would allow Inter to significantly increase the quality of external rotations, securing the lateral lanes for the present and the future.
The boy who grew up at Assago and later in the Inter Academy, before making the leap to the professionals, embodies the Nerazzurri philosophy: young, with a great perspective and, above all, Italian, to continue developing the tricolor structure, also from a national perspective. In a global market, maintaining an Italian soul remains a priority for the Italian Champions, who see in him a profile already ready for the definitive leap in quality under the spotlights of San Siro.
