La Germania di Nagelsmann è pronta per sedersi tra le grandi. E sorprendere. Dopo due spedizioni mondiali clamorosamente fallite, venendo eliminata nella fase a gironi, finalmente è arrivato il passaggio ai sedicesimi di finale per la Mannschaft, con un turno di anticipo. Certo, il Curacao, travolto 7-1, e la Costa d'Avorio, sconfitta in rimonta 2-1, non possono essere considerate delle avversarie temibili per la Nazionale tedesca, che comunque ha avuto il merito di non compiere passi falsi. L'inciampo per 2-1 patita contro l'Ecuador è stato indolore per Kimmich e compagni, già certi del passaggio del turno da prima della classe.

TOP - IL DUO WIRTZ E MUSIALA
Dieci reti segnati in due partite, e il merito della grande produzione offensiva è sicuramente loro, di Florian Wirtz e Jamal Musiala. Il duo magico, tutto fantasia, ma anche concretezza, ha conquistato i tifosi della Nazionale tedesca, che li hanno soprannominati affettuosamente Wirtziala. Il primo costruisce, diventando il cervello offensivo della squadra, il secondo spacca le partite, con le sue accelerazioni e i suoi dribbling. La voce che riporta un solo gol segnato e due assist in due è bugiarda: i cambi di ritmo, ma anche la costruzione del gioco, passa necessariamente dai loro piedi.
TOP - JOSHUA KIMMICH
Impossibile non menzionare l'esperto capitano, Joshua Kimmich. Se i primi due rubano la scena, il terzino tedesco si occupa del lavoro sporco e spesso invisibile negli highlights delle partite, ma non per questo meno essenziale. Leadership, esperienza, solidità difensiva e costante supporto in fase di costruzione: un apporto essenziale per la squadra di Nagelsmann, che porta ancora una volta la firma della sua colonna portante, autore di due assist.
FLOP - LEROY SANE'
Se bisogna e si può trovare un flop in una squadra che ha segnato dieci reti, incassandone quattro, e centrato un passaggio del turno in anticipo, il dito può essere puntato su Leroy Sanè. La sua colpa non è tanto quella di non aver creato, ma di non essere stato in grado di concludere, vanificando occasioni nitide apparecchiate dai compagni. Il suo gioco, in definitiva, è apparso molto fumoso e poco concreto, non riuscendo a incidere né contro il Curacao né contro la Costa d'Avorio, partita in cui, al contrario, si è reso decisivo il subentrante Undav. SORPRESA - DENIZ UNDAV
La più grande sorpresa del torneo, e probabilmente il miglior giocatore della Mannschaft, finora è stato Deniz Undav. Decisiva la doppietta firmata in 30' contro la Costa d'Avorio, che ha permesso alla Germania di ribaltare una partita che si era messa male. Partito con il ruolo di underdog, Nagelsmann ha deciso di buttarlo nella mischia, e lui ha risposto spaccando le partite.
