La Liga, three-way fight for Europe. Seville, all you need is one point!

There is only one day left until the end of the 2025/26 La Liga season and not all the verdicts have yet been received. In the Europe area there is still a fight, with three teams competing for a place. Mallorca's hopes drop in the safety zone, while Sevilla and Alavés need just one point to remain in the Primera División.

Liga, la lotta per la Conference

The results of the weekend have reduced the places available for a qualification for the European cups to one. Celta Vigo won a very precious point at Athletic Club (goal by Swedberg), arithmetically certifying participation in the next Europa League. Inaki Williams' goal allowed the visitors to equalise, but their hopes of securing a place in continental football are dwindling.

At 48 points in the standings (currently in seventh place) is Getafe, the main candidate to earn the Conference. Bordalas' team maintained their place despite the 1-0 defeat against Elche, in full fight for salvation.

In eighth place, just one point behind Getafe, is Rayo Vallecano, who beat Villareal 2-0 on Sunday and who believes even more in the possibility of snatching seventh place. It was Camello and Alemão who kept the dreams alive.

On the other hand, Valencia have 46 points and as a fallen giant could give themselves great satisfaction. By beating Barcelona at the last minute and with the hypothetical defeats of their rivals, they could return to Europe, banishing the fear of relegation that has hovered over the club for years.

Lotta salvezza, a Siviglia e Alavés basta un punto. Elche fuori dalla zona rossa

Even in the safety zone, nothing has been decided with 90 minutes left in the championship. Athletic and Espanyol are officially safe, but the first teams (in order of ranking) to risk are Sevilla and Alavés. Both need a point in the last round to certify their presence in the top category for next season too.

Unlike Sevilla (defeated 0-1 by Real Madrid), Alavés achieved a result over the weekend, beating already relegated Real Oviedo 1-0. For Quique Sanchez's team it is the second consecutive success after the one against the champions Barcelona.

At serious risk of falling into the second series is Mallorca, currently in 19th place in the table with 39 points. The team led by former Lazio player Muriqi doesn't just need the three points, but also particular situations on the final day. Above them is Girona, who after the historic qualification for the Champions League in the 23/24 season is facing difficult years. The current 40 points are not enough to maintain the category: a great show of strength will be needed next weekend. Elche, who defeated Alavés on the last Sunday, left the red zone. To date, he is out of the trio that will return to the Segunda, but a last-gasp draw may not be enough, as for Osasuna and Levante.
