Le parole di Russell, Hamilton e Antonelli dopo le qualifiche del Gran Premio di Barcellona
Dopo gli ultimi difficili weekend, George Russell rialza la testa e a Barcellona si prende la pole position davanti a Lewis Hamilton e Kimi Antonelli. Il pilota britannico della Mercedes ha messo a segno il miglior giro con il tempo di 1:14.679.
Il poleman di Barcellona non ha nascosto la sua felicità ma non ha voluto sbilanciarsi in vista della gara di domani. George Russell ha dichiarato: "Finora è stato un ottimo weekend, sento di essere tornato me stesso. Sto facendo il mio lavoro, giro dopo giro: ho fatto tabula rasa delle ultime gare e sono contento di essere di nuovo in pole. Lewis (Hamilton, ndr) è stato veloce per tutta la sessione, mi sorprende vederlo lì, ci aspettavamo che la lotta fosse tra noi e la McLaren, ma la Ferrari ha fatto un bel lavoro. Anche Kimi (Antonelli, ndr) sta facendo bene. Domani sarà una bella lotta".
Lewis Hamilton si è detto soddisfatto del secondo posto e guarda con fiducia alla gara di domenica. Queste le parole del pilota della Ferrari: "Domani siamo in una buona posizione per poter lottare. In ogni weekend siamo almeno quattro decimi dietro la Mercedes, stavolta siamo così vicini, a meno di un decimo, e questo dimostra il gran lavoro in fabbrica. Un grazie ai tecnici di Maranello, bisogna continuare a spingere e a sviluppare la macchina. Sono sicuro che riusciremo a dare ancora più potenziale alla vettura per domani". L'inglese ha aggiunto: "Quando ho fatto il miglior tempo nella Q1 ho capito che avevamo trovato un buon bilanciamento e che si poteva fare qualcosa di buono. Potremo fare la nostra gara".
Per la prima volta in stagione, Kimi Antonelli non partirà dalla prima fila. Il pilota italiano della Mercedes ha definito questo weekend "un po' difficile", aggiungendo che "non abbiamo tanto feeling con la macchina. Il passo gara ieri è stato forte, per cui sicuramente questo è un aspetto positivo. Oggi mi è mancato qualcosa, però guardo alla gara". Il classe 2006 ha concluso: "La partenza sarà importante, potrò anche prendere la scia di chi mi sta davanti".

After the last difficult weekends, George Russell raises his head and takes pole position in Barcelona ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Antonelli. The British Mercedes driver set the best lap with a time of 1:14.679.
The poleman from Barcelona didn't hide his happiness but didn't want to say too much ahead of tomorrow's race. George Russell said: "It's been a great weekend so far, I feel like I'm back to myself. I'm doing my job, lap after lap: I've made a clean sweep of the last few races and I'm happy to be back on pole. Lewis (Hamilton, ed.) was fast throughout the session, I'm surprised to see him there, we expected the fight to be between us and McLaren, but Ferrari did a good job. Kimi (Antonelli, ed.) is also doing well. Tomorrow will be a good fight."
Lewis Hamilton said he was satisfied with second place and is looking forward to Sunday's race with confidence. These are the words of the Ferrari driver: "Tomorrow we are in a good position to be able to fight. Every weekend we are at least four tenths behind the Mercedes, this time we are so close, less than a tenth, and this demonstrates the great work in the factory. Thanks to the technicians at Maranello, we must continue to push and develop the car. I am sure that we will be able to give the car even more potential for tomorrow." The Englishman added: "When I set the best time in Q1 I understood that we had found a good balance and that we could do something good. We will be able to do our race."
For the first time this season, Kimi Antonelli will not start from the front row. The Italian Mercedes driver defined this weekend as "a bit difficult", adding that "we don't have much feeling with the car. The race pace yesterday was strong, so this is certainly a positive aspect. Today I missed something, but I'm looking at the race". The class of 2006 concluded: "The start will be important, I will also be able to follow in the wake of those in front of me."
