Dopo i rumors su un possibile approdo in Serie A con le maglie di Juventus o Milan, Robert Lewandowski ha scelto la sua prossima (e forse) ultima tappa della carriera. L’ormai ex Barcellona in scadenza di contratto è rimasto attratto dalla proposta del Chicago Fire, decidendo dunque di trasferirsi nella città statunitense.
Affare in dirittura d’arrivo, con la tanto attesa ufficialità che dovrebbe arrivare quanto prima.
Lewa ha detto sì
Nelle scorse settimane il giocatore e l’agente Pini Zahavi avevano incontrato la società rosso biancoblù per parlare di un eventuale trasferimento. Alla fine questi colloqui si sono rivelati decisivi, in quanto il classe ‘88 ha espresso parere positivo trovando la giusta intesa con la dirigenza. Soddisfazione manifestata anche da Gregg Berhalter, allenatore dei Chicago :
“Questo paese è pronto per lui. Ha avuto una carriera brillante e questa potrebbe essere la prossima sfida nella sua incredibile carriera. Abbiamo parlato della sua posizione e di come potrebbe aiutare come potrebbe aiutare la squadra a vincere il campionato. Penso che la cosa più importante sia che gli abbiamo mostrato cosa possiamo offrirgli a Chicago".
Addio Europa
Sta per concludersi il rapporto tra il centravanti polacco e il nostro Continente. Un lungo viaggio iniziato in patria nelle serie minori e poi sbocciato nel 2008 con il Lech Poznan, fin quando a giugno 2010 arrivò la svolta della carriera: la chiamata del Borussia Dortmund, dove tutti iniziarono a notarlo persino i celebri rivali del BVB ovvero il Bayern Monaco che lo strapparono ai gialloneri. Infine il quadriennio al Barcellona, terminato lo scorso maggio da campione di Spagna con una Liga dominata dai blaugrana ( gap di 8 punti dal Real Madrid).
Il fil rouge di questo straordinario percorso sono stati i gol, oltre 600 impreziositi da una valanga di trofei: 1 Champions League, 1 Supercoppa Europea, 10 campionati tedeschi solo per citarne alcuni. Unico rammarico il pallone d’oro promesso a Robert nel 2020, ma la pandemia COVID bloccò la consegna del premio più ambito da ogni calciatore.
Lewandowski per il sogno MLS?
L’ex Bayern dovrebbe aumentare il tasso tecnico in rosa, provando magari a trascinare in futuro la squadra dell’Illinois sul tetto degli USA (sensazione mai più assaporata dal 1998). Nel frattempo, la stagione attuale è partita bene per Brady e compagni: 26 punti in 14 partite e terzo posto nella Eastern Conference. Reduci da tre successi consecutivi, i futuri compagni del 37enne stanno arrivando preparati in vista dei prossimi delicati impegni, tra cui spicca il big match del 23 luglio contro l’Inter Miami di Messi secondo (il fuoriclasse argentino ovviamente assente essendo impegnato al Mondiale).
Il bomber polacco spera di scrivere un’altra pagina di storia, nel Paese che ha visto protagonista a fine carriera uno dei suoi idoli da ragazzo cioè Thierry Henry: il francese ha indossato la maglia dei New York Red Bulls.

A deal in the home stretch, with the long-awaited official announcement expected to arrive as soon as possible.

In recent weeks the player and agent Pini Zahavi had met the red and white club to talk about a possible transfer. In the end these talks proved decisive, as the class of '88 expressed a positive opinion and found the right agreement with the management. Satisfaction also expressed by Gregg Berhalter, Chicago coach:
"This country is ready for him. He's had a brilliant career and this could be the next challenge in his incredible career. We talked about his position and how he could help how he could help the team win the championship. I think the most important thing is that we showed him what we can offer him in Chicago."

The relationship between the Polish center forward and our continent is about to end. A long journey that began at home in the minor leagues and then blossomed in 2008 with Lech Poznan, until the turning point of his career came in June 2010: the call from Borussia Dortmund, where everyone began to notice him even the famous rivals of BVB or Bayern Munich who snatched him from the yellow and blacks.
