Gli Spurs vengono da due stagioni deludenti in campionato, con l’unica gioia dell’Europa League vinta nel 2025, e hanno così deciso di puntare su De Zerbi pochi mesi fa per potersi risollevare. L’allenatore italiano ha le idee ben chiare e lo ha dimostrato subito nella gerarchia dei portieri. Fiducia al giovane Kinsky affiancato da un portiere di esperienza come Dubravka, acquistato a parametro zero dopo l’esperienza col Burnley. A farne le spese è l’estremo difensore acquistato tre anni fa per ben 20 milioni di euro, ovvero Guglielmo Vicario.

Arrivato in terra londinese nel 2023, Vicario fu accolto molto positivamente dallo staff e soprattutto dai tifosi che pensavano di aver trovato un degno successore di Lloris. Ma nel tempo tutti i buoni propositi si sono dileguati facendo spazio alla delusione per un calciatore non ritenuto al livello del Tottenham. Questo sentimento è cresciuto di pari passo con il progressivo peggioramento delle prestazioni della squadra negli anni. Un infortunio a novembre 2024 gli ha impedito di trovare la continuità necessaria nel rendimento. Tutto questo per arrivare alla annata appena trascorsa dove nelle ultime sette partite il suo posto è stato preso definitivamente dal ventitreenne ceco Antonin Kinsky. Non stupisce che questo avvicendamento sia coinciso con l’arrivo di De Zerbi, fautore del gioco basso che necessita un portiere abile con i piedi e nel quale Kinsky risulta un ottimo interprete.

Quindi l’ex estremo difensore dell’Empoli è stato scaricato senza troppi convenevoli e ora deve guardarsi intorno a quello che il mercato può offrirgli. Inizialmente l’Inter ci aveva pensato per sostituire Sommer, ma la volontà di Chivu nel puntare definitivamente sul Pepo Martinez ha eliminato tale possibilità che Vicario avrebbe accettato ben volentieri. La Juventus, alla ricerca di un portiere affidabile con cui sostituire Di Gregorio e dopo il pressing e le difficoltà nell'arrivare a Dibu Martinez, titolare dell’Aston Villa e della nazionale Argentina, sembrerebbe poter virare con forza sul portiere italiano ed essere al momento la principale pretendente. L’ingaggio di 3 milioni l’anno non è un problema, e anche la posizione del Tottenham, che valutava ben 15 milioni il cartellino del ventinovenne, sembrerebbe essersi ammorbidita. Gli inglesi infatti avrebbero aperto ad una soluzione in prestito con diritto di riscatto. Vicario potrebbe rilanciare la sua carriera e per rimanere stabilmente fra gli Azzurri. Il calciomercato è solo alle battute iniziali, ma il portiere, messo alla porta da De Zerbi, ha fretta di trovare una nuova sistemazione e non aspetterà ancora tanto tempo.
