Nella notte italiana, i riflettori erano tutti puntati sull’Argentina impegnata contro l’Algeria. I campioni in carica non hanno deluso battendo 3-0 gli uomini di Petković, portandosi in testa nel girone J a pari punti con l’Austria (vittoriosa sulla Giordania). A prendersi la scena, ci ha pensato il giocatore più atteso, Lionel Messi che grazie alla tripletta realizzata ha scritto un’altra pagina di storia: miglior goleador nella storia dei Mondiali, insieme a Miroslav Klose.

Per raggiungere il primato di miglior marcatore nella Coppa del Mondo, il classe ‘87 avrebbe dovuto segnare 3 reti: detto-fatto, hat trick servito e un altro traguardo nel palmarès personale. 16 gol ai Mondiali, raggiunto così il tedesco Klose, ma con la possibilità di superarlo considerando le alte possibilità dell’Albiceleste di arrivare in finale (altre potenziali 7 partite, girone compreso). L’ex Barcellona aveva già raggiunto un record prima di entrare in campo, partecipando per la sesta volta al torneo globale più importante, però come da dna ha voluto alzare l’asticella.
Messi e Klose, il confronto
Sono passati 20 anni dalla prima esultanza Mondiale del talento originario di Rosario: era il 16 giugno 2006, quando l’allora 19enne segnò alla Serbia-Montenegro. Due decenni dopo (17 giugno 2026), la sedicesima marcatura per un meraviglioso primato.
Il feeling realizzativo di Klose si aprì il 01 giugno 2002 contro l’Arabia Saudita, chiudendosi il 07 luglio 2014 nella celebre semifinale vinta 7-1 sul Brasile. Guarda caso, entrambi erano presenti alla finalissima e la Germania si impose sull’Argentina 1-0.
La Nazionale sudamericana è comunque salita sul tetto del mondo nel 2022, sconfiggendo la Francia.

A Kansas City, netto dominio degli uomini di Scaloni davanti a un’audace Algeria salvata da un passivo più pesante, grazie agli interventi del portiere Zidane. Il primo tempo si era chiuso con un risultato ancora in bilico (sinistro letale di Messi e 1-0), dove il vero protagonista era stato il VAR: annullati per fuorigioco, i gol della Pulce e di Chaibi.
Nella ripresa, il numero 10 argentino ha chiuso le pratiche con un facile tap in e poi mettendo il pallone nell’angolino.
Diversi calciatori del nostro campionato in campo, partendo dall’interista Lautaro Martinez e soprattutto il gioiellino del Como Nico Paz, subentrato a capitan Lionel nel secondo tempo. Lato Algeria, sulla fascia destra c‘era il terzino dell’Hellas Verona Rafik Belghali.
Messi ha voglia di guardare tutti dall’alto e staccare Klose: obiettivo da provare a raggiungere, nella prossima sfida contro l’Austria (lunedì 22 giugno).

To achieve the record of best scorer in the World Cup, the '87 class would have had to score 3 goals: said and done, hat trick served and another achievement in his personal palmarès. 16 goals at the World Cup, thus reaching the German Klose, but with the possibility of surpassing him considering the Albiceleste's high chances of reaching the final (another potential 7 matches, including the group). The former Barcelona player had already achieved a record before entering the field, participating for the sixth time in the most important global tournament, but as per his DNA he wanted to raise the bar.
