Il Napoli continua a programmare il futuro e tra i profili monitorati dalla dirigenza partenopea per rinforzare la rosa c'è anche quello di Brooke Norton-Cuffy, esterno destro inglese del Genoa. Il classe 2004 è stato una delle sorprese più interessanti dell'ultima Serie A e le sue prestazioni lo hanno messo in cima alla lista dei desideri di diverse squadre italiane ed europee. Gli azzuri sarebbero alla ricerca di un giocatore giovane ma già pronto per il calcio italiano, capace di rappresentare un'alternativa credibile a Giovanni Di Lorenzo e, nel medio periodo, raccoglierne eventualmente l'eredità. Sul giocatore, però, la concorrenza non manca: anche altri top club italiani ed esteri hanno seguito con attenzione la sua crescita.

Norton-Cuffy è un terzino destro moderno dotato di grande esplosività e forza fisica. Cresciuto nel settore giovanile dell'Arsenal, ha completato la propria maturazione calcistica in Italia, migliorando notevolmente la fase difensiva senza perdere le qualità offensive che lo avevano reso uno dei prospetti più interessanti del calcio inglese. Ama spingere sulla fascia, è molto efficace nelle progressioni palla al piede e possiede un ottimo cambio di passo negli spazi aperti. Dal punto di vista tattico può giocare sia in una difesa a quattro sia come esterno a tutta fascia in un centrocampo a cinque. La sua giovane età gli garantisce ancora ampi margini di miglioramento, soprattutto nella gestione delle letture difensive e nella qualità dell'ultimo passaggio. Nonostante qualche guaio fisico nella seconda metà di stagione, l’inglese potrebbe diventare un’arma in più nello scacchiere azzurro, portando in dote una grande fisicità e un’intensità che in un campionato come la Serie A possono fare la differenza.

La stagione appena conclusa ha rappresentato quella della definitiva consacrazione per Norton-Cuffy. Con il Genoa ha collezionato 29 presenze complessive tra Serie A e Coppa Italia, realizzando 2 gol e fornendo 1 assist. Alcuni problemi fisici accusati nel finale di stagione ne hanno limitato il minutaggio, senza però intaccare il giudizio estremamente positivo sul suo rendimento. L'esterno inglese si è infatti imposto come uno dei giovani più interessanti del campionato grazie alla capacità di abbinare corsa, intensità e qualità nelle due fasi di gioco. Le sue prestazioni gli hanno inoltre permesso di consolidare il proprio ruolo nell'Inghilterra Under 21, confermando una crescita che sembra essere soltanto all'inizio.
Questo ovviamente fa si che diversi siano i club su di lui. Già a gennaio era stato al centro di molte voci di mercato ed era sembrato vicino all'Inter, ora su di lui ci sarebbe anche l'interesse della Fiorentina. He loves to push on the wing, is very effective in progressing the ball and has an excellent change of pace in open spaces. From a tactical point of view he can play both in a four-man defense and as a full-back in a five-man midfield. His young age still guarantees him ample room for improvement, especially in the management of defensive readings and in the quality of the last pass. Despite some physical problems in the second half of the season, the Englishman could become an additional weapon on the Azzurri board, bringing great physicality and intensity which in a championship like Serie A can make the difference.

The season just ended represented that of the definitive consecration for Norton-Cuffy. With Genoa he made 29 appearances in total between Serie A and the Italian Cup, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist. Some physical problems suffered at the end of the season limited his playing time, without however affecting the extremely positive opinion on his performance. The English winger has in fact established himself as one of the most interesting young players in the championship thanks to his ability to combine running, intensity and quality in the two phases of the game. His performances have also allowed him to consolidate his role in the England Under-21s, confirming a growth that appears to be only just beginning.
This obviously means that there are different clubs on him. Already in January he had been at the center of many transfer rumors and had seemed close to Inter, now there would also be interest from Fiorentina in him.
