Francesco Acerbi lascia l’Inter dopo aver ribaltato tutto: i dubbi, le critiche, persino le aspettative. Quando arrivò nell’estate del 2022 dalla Lazio, molti tifosi nerazzurri non erano convinti. Troppo avanti con l’età, 34 anni all’epoca, troppo legato a Simone Inzaghi, troppo poco “da grande colpo”. Sembrava il classico acquisto d’emergenza per completare il reparto. Invece Acerbi si è preso l’Inter diventando in quattro anni uno dei volti più riconoscibili del ciclo nerazzurro.

Classe 1988, nato a Vizzolo Predabissi, Acerbi non ha mai avuto il fascino del difensore elegante. Niente impostazione spettacolare, niente social da fenomeno. Solo marcature feroci, anticipo, personalità e una fame che sembrava aumentare partita dopo partita. È entrato nello spogliatoio quasi in punta di piedi, ma in poco tempo è diventato indispensabile.

Con Simone Inzaghi ha ritrovato centralità assoluta. E all’Inter ha vissuto forse la fase più intensa della sua carriera: lo scudetto della seconda stella, le finali europee e le notti di Champions.

La fotografia perfetta resta la semifinale di Champions contro il Barcellona. Recupero, San Siro in apnea, Inter praticamente fuori. Poi Acerbi sale in area e segna il gol più assurdo della sua carriera, il primo in Champions League a 37 anni. Una corsa liberatoria, rabbiosa, quasi incredula.
In quel momento è sembrato il simbolo perfetto della sua storia: uno che nessuno aspettava e che invece arriva sempre quando conta davvero.

Ma il legame con i tifosi nasce anche da altro. Acerbi non ha mai cercato di apparire perfetto. Forse proprio per questo San Siro gli si è affezionato così tanto.

All’Inter lascia trofei, leadership e soprattutto credibilità. Stagione dopo stagione, ha finito per diventare molto di più: un leader silenzioso, uno che nei momenti complicati non si tirava mai indietro.
