There are dates that, in the calendar of the Inter fans, take on the value of a photograph jealously kept in the drawer of memories. May 16th is one of those. A day that smells of emotions, triumphs, European nights and dreams come true. It is the birthday of Massimo Moratti, the president who, more than any other, was able to transform his love for Inter into a personal, almost visceral mission, giving the Nerazzurri fans some of the most legendary pages in the club's history.
Eighty-one years old in perhaps the most symbolic moment possible. Because destiny, when it comes to Inter, often loves to intertwine melancholy and glory in the same breath. The last few weeks have in fact given the president of the Triplete a double gift with a special flavour: the 21st Scudetto and the 10th Italian Cup, trophies which have once again certified the greatness of a team capable of dominating the Italian season with personality, strength and a sense of belonging.
And while Milan once again wears the Nerazzurri, the Inter heart also had to deal with a sudden and profound pain, the passing of Evaristo Beccalossi. The melancholic genius, the playmaker with a thousand dribbles, the boy capable of lighting up San Siro with an impossible play and a light-hearted smile. One of Inter's most beloved sons has passed away, one of those footballers who not only belong to the almanacs but to the emotional memory of an entire generation.
And it is inevitable that, in this whirlwind of emotions, thoughts return to Moratti. To the president who was able to transform romanticism into planning, passion into ambition, sentiment into a modern and courageous football vision. He wasn't just a manager. He was a man in love with his team, willing to suffer, to get up, to start again every time just to bring Inter back to the top of the world.
Moratti: i bomber del passato
This is demonstrated by the champions who lived through his era, authentic diamonds who still shine today in the collective memory of Italian football. Ronaldo, the Phenomenon who made every law of physics seem impossible. Álvaro Recoba, poetic and unpredictable left-footed player. Roberto Baggio, romantic genius who arrived in Milan amidst amazement and charm. Christian Vieri, power and hunger for goals at the service of Belamata. And then a long trail of champions who contributed to building the modern myth of Inter.

Today, almost as if in an ideal passing of the baton, one of the most beloved symbols of Moratti's epic plays the role of vice president of the club: Javier Zanetti. The eternal captain, the face of Nerazzurri loyalty, who saw this Inter win a prestigious Doblete and add new pages to the club's palmarès. An invisible thread links past and present, Moratti and Zanetti, the Treble and this new winning cycle, in a continuity of values that represents the most authentic essence of Interism.
Because Massimo Moratti left something that goes beyond trophies. He restored pride to a fan base that for years had lived with the frustration of those who saw others win. He brought Inter back to the center of world football with the power of ideas, with important investments, but above all with the heart of a fan sitting in the most difficult seat of all: that of the president.
And so today, while the sky above Milan is once again colored black and blue, the Inter world rallies around its most beloved president.
Happy 81st birthday President, from the Barzacom editorial team.
