L'Inter continua a lavorare per rinforzare il centrocampo e Curtis Jones resta uno dei nomi in cima alla lista di Piero Ausilio e della dirigenza nerazzurra. La trattativa, però, si complica: dopo che il Liverpool ha respinto la seconda proposta nerazzurra — circa 25 milioni, ritenuti ancora lontani dalla valutazione di 35 del club inglese — nelle ultime ore si sono inseriti sia l'Arsenal che la Juventus nella corsa al centrocampista dei Reds. Quello che sembrava una trattativa bilaterale tra Inter e Liverpool potrebbe trasformasi rapidamente in un'asta a più contendenti, con i nerazzurri costretti a fare i conti con una concorrenza sempre più agguerrita.
I Gunners pronti a fare sul serio
Secondo quanto riportato dall’Inghilterra nelle ultime ore anche l'Arsenal avrebbe messo gli occhi sul centrocampista classe 2001. I Gunners sarebbero pronti ad avvicinarsi - o addirittura ad eguagliare - la richiesta del Liverpool, candidandosi come acquirenti più credibili sul piano economico. Un copione già visto: dopo il sorpasso improvviso del Chelsea nell'operazione Marco Palestra, che ha fatto saltare il banco, l’Inter rischia di vedersi scavalcare ancora da una concorrente della Premier su un obiettivo dichiarato. Due volte in due settimane sarebbe uno scenario difficile da digerire ma sarebbe ancora più una dimostrazione del fatto che nulla si può contro lo strapotere economico del calcio inglese.
Anche la Juventus in corsa
Sempre dall'Inghilterra, anche la Juventus avrebbe allacciato i primi contatti per Jones. I bianconeri, in piena fase di riassestamento dopo l'arrivo del nuovo amministratore delegato Carnevali, sarebbero anch'essi a caccia di un centrocampista con le caratteristiche dell'inglese. La Juventus che torna a fare mercato con una certa ambizione è una variabile in più da tenere d'occhio: i bianconeri hanno la necessità e probabilmente la volontà di presentarsi alla prossima stagione con un centrocampo rinnovato, e Jones rappresenterebbe un colpo di qualità e di prospettiva. La concorrenza cresce, ma in casa Inter non sembra esserci particolare agitazione. La dirigenza nerazzurra ha dimostrato nelle ultime sessioni di mercato di avere idee chiare e di saper aspettare il momento giusto, senza farsi trascinare dall’emotività o dalla fretta. Jones piace, ma solo alle condizioni giuste: se il Liverpool non scenderà dalla sua valutazione e altri club dovessero accelerare, i nerazzurri sanno già che esistono altre strade. Marotta e i suoi hanno esperienza sufficiente per sapere quando conviene affondare e quando, invece, conviene guardare altrove.
