La Coppa del Mondo è un privilegio per poche, almeno a giudicare dall’albo d’oro, visto che sono solo 8 le nazionali che sono riuscite a sollevare l’agognato trofeo. Tra queste una si staglia al di sopra di tutte le altre, ed è quella che più di ogni altra ha scritto la storia del calcio: il Brasile. La Seleção è infatti la squadra più vincente nella storia dei Mondiali con cinque titoli, conquistati nelle edizioni del 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 e 2002.
Un primato destinato a durare
Un primato che resiste da oltre vent'anni e che nessun’altra nazionale è ancora riuscita a eguagliare, ma la sesta non arriverà nell’attuale edizione in USA, Canada e Messico, vista l’eliminazione un po’ a sorpresa e sicuramente prematura della squadra allenata da Ancelotti contro la Norvegia, agli ottavi di finale. Una doccia fredda per un Paese che vive il calcio come pochi altri, colpito e affondato dalla doppietta di un mostruoso Haaland, ma in difficoltà anche nei gironi. Il duello Germania-Italia
Alle spalle del Brasile ci sono Germania e Italia, entrambe a quota quattro Coppe del Mondo. Sul gradino più basso del podio c’è l'Argentina, a quota tre titoli mondiali grazie ai successi del 1978, del 1986 e del 2022. L’Albiceleste ha consolidato il proprio status tra le grandi del calcio internazionale con il trionfo in Qatar, interrompendo un digiuno lungo 36 anni grazie ai gol e alla leadership di Leo Messi, decisivo 4 anni fa come oggi negli Stati Uniti, capocannoniere della formazione di Scaloni e caccia di uno storico bis in due edizioni consecutive.
Due successi per Uruguay e Francia. La Celeste inaugurò l’albo d’oro vincendo il primo Mondiale nel 1930 davanti al suo pubblico a Montevideo, per poi concedere il bis nel 1950 con il celebre "Maracanazo" contro il Brasile.
La Francia, invece, ha iniziato a vincere tardi, i suoi due titoli nel 1998, in casa, e nel 2018 in Russia. E ora si giocherà l’accesso alla finalissima contro la Spagna in semifinale, dopo aver eliminato il Marocco con un 2-0 netto ai quarti di finale. E proprio la Francia ha qualcosa in più delle avversarie ed è considerata la grande favorita per il successo finale, anche se dovrà prima superare un grosso ostacolo chiamato Spagna.
