Nei discorsi che l’Inter sta intavolando con il Tottenham per l’esterno laterale Spence, spunta a sorpresa il nome di Cristian Romero, che la squadra inglese avrebbe offerto ai nerazzurri per una cifra intorno ai 50 milioni di euro.
Il difensore centrale classe 1998 è ancora impegnato al Mondiale con la sua Argentina, che affronterà l’Inghilterra per giocarsi il pass per la finale, ma il Tottenham avrebbe fatto il nome di Romero nel corso dei dialoghi incentrati su Spence.
L’Inter è da inizio mercato alla ricerca di un laterale destro che possa ricevere l’eredità di Denzel Dumfries, approdato al Real Madrid. Dopo aver concentrato la sua attenzione su Palestra e aver visto sfumata la trattativa (il Chelsea ha offerto all’Atalanta e al giocatore cifre impensabili da raggiungere per le squadre italiane), i nerazzurri avevano raggiunto un accordo con l’Union Saint-Gilloise per Anan Khalaili, ma il ragazzo non ha ricevuto l’idoneità sportiva da parte del Coni.
L’Inter ha dunque chiesto informazioni agli Spurs riguardo Djed Spence, terzino classe 2000, che abbiamo già visto in Italia nei primi mesi del 2024 con la maglia del Genoa. Nel corso di questi colloqui con gli inglesi, è stato offerto ai nerazzurri il Cuti Romero, difensore argentino che vorrebbe lasciare il Tottenham e combacerebbe a pieno con le esigenze dell’Inter, alla ricerca di un centrale marcatore di livello dopo l’addio di Acerbi e De Vrij. Romero avrebbe esperienza e qualità per alzare il livello della retroguardia nerazzurra.
La richiesta da parte del Tottenham sarebbe di 50 milioni, lo stipendio da corrispondere al giocatore 5-6 milioni netti a stagione. Sicuramente un affare che affascina dirigenti e tifosi, ma che potrebbe rivelarsi troppo oneroso. E anche il Barcellona sembra essere sul giocatore.

La crescita esponenziale da parte dell’argentino anche durante i Mondiali ha fatto lievitare il prezzo del suo cartellino, che è arrivato a 50 milioni. Ciò rappresenta un ostacolo non da poco per l’Inter, che però potrebbe cercare di regalare a mister Chivu e ai tifosi un campione di portata internazionale che farebbe la differenza nella difesa dei nerazzurri.
