Diego Coppola ha convinto con le sue prestazioni il Paris Fc ad acquistarlo definitivamente. Saluta così il Brighton che appena un anno fa lo aveva acquistato dall’Hellas per 11 milioni di euro. L’affare fra gli inglesi e i francesi si conclude sulla base di 20 milioni di euro.

Coppola non rientrava più fra i piani del Brighton e più squadre lo avevano messo nel mirino. Una fra tutte la Lazio di Gattuso che avrebbe voluto un difensore centrale giovane ma con già esperienza in A. I costi però sono sembrati subito proibitivi poiché la squadra della Premier avrebbe voluto fare una cospicua plusvalenza col calciatore.
Ed allora il Paris Fc, che ha sempre un occhio di riguardo per i giovani, ha deciso di affondare il colpo su un giocatore che hanno già potuto ammirare dallo scorso gennaio. L’offerta decisiva, che ha di fatto concluso l’affare, si aggira sui 18 milioni di euro più 2 di bonus. Al calciatore un contratto quinquennale per far sì che diventi il pilastro della difesa parigina.

Diego Coppola è un difensore centrale in grado di poter giocare sia nella difesa a 3 sia nella difesa a 4. Fa del colpo di testa e la sua abilità nell’anticipare l’avversario le sue caratteristiche principali che hanno fatto schizzare il suo valore di mercato a 18 milioni di euro.
Il classe 2003 esordisce in Serie A col Verona nel 2021 ma è dall’anno successivo che diventa sempre di più uno dei principali baluardi della difesa scaligera. Infatti conquisterà anche la chiamata della Nazionale italiana nel 2025 con cui giocherà contro la Norvegia e la Moldavia.

La volontà della Lazio era quello di riportarlo in A, e Coppola non avrebbe rifiutato tale opportunità, ma, per via dei problemi economici, i biancocelesti dovranno ripiegare su altri obiettivi, primo tra tutti il classe 2005 Sergi Dominguez di proprietà della Dinamo Zagabria. I problemi della Lazio sono ben noti, ma certamente per Coppola invece la strada si fa più in discesa, dopo l’acquisto di un club che punta fortemente su di lui. Ora è deciso a riprendersi quella maglia azzurra che ha già indossato grazie alle buone prestazioni passate.
