A quasi un mese dalla sua apertura ufficiale l'Inter ha piazzato due colpi, ovvero il rientro alla base di Aleksandar Stankovic e l'acquisto di Ivan Provedel dalla Lazio. Il ritiro in Germania avrà inizio nella giornata di venerdì 17 luglio, ma la squadra non è assolutamente al completo. Gli obiettivi principali per questa sessione sono: n esterno destro titolare, un centrocampista che abbini quantità e qualità e almeno un difensore centrale di livello (in attesa di valutare Pavard, intenzionato a rimanere). La conferma di Roberto De Zerbi alla guida tecnica del club londinese ha dato il via ad un nuovo progetto, basato sulle ambiziose idee di calcio dell'ex Marsiglia. La ricostruzione quasi completa della rosa richiesta proprio dall'allenatore vedrebbe infatti fuori dai piani il “Cuti”, che sta disputando un ottimo Mondiale con la sua Argentina e che domenica 19 luglio giocherà la finale da titolare. L'argentino non spicca infatti nelle doti di costruzione dell'azione, un punto fondamentale del canovaccio tattico di De Zerbi; questo potrebbe portarlo quindi a lasciare il club, con l'Inter alla finestra interessata in un suo acquisto.
Costi elevati, ma serve uno sforzo
La valutazione del difensore classe '98 si aggira intorno ai 45 milioni di euro, ma le richieste del Tottenham sfiorano quasi i 50. Sembra quindi molto difficile un approdo di Romero in nerazzurro, soprattutto considerando il diktat della proprietà per quanto riguarda i cartellini dei giocatori. No alle cifre folli, no ai giocatori in scadenza strapagati (un esempio è Jones, la cui valutazione è ritenuta eccessiva) e no agli ultra trentenni svincolati con stipendi elevatissimi.
Dall'arrivo di Oaktree alla guida la linea da seguire è parsa molto chiara: si può investire, ma con moderazione e soprattutto senza valori esagerati. La grande necessità dell'Inter di avere almeno un altro difensore di caratura internazionale potrebbe però convincere la proprietà a fare uno sforzo in più ed avallare un tentativo concreto per portare Romero a vestire la maglia nerazzurra.
Il grande scoglio, oltre alle cifre, può essere la concorrenza. Il Barcellona ha infatti messo gli occhi sull'argentino, ma è frenato dai soliti limiti economici che impediscono i grandi acquisti.
Solidità e carisma
Tra le qualità del difensore argentino spicca sicuramente la grande personalità, la cosiddetta “garra”. Il “Cuti” è un difensore roccioso, abile nella marcatura a uomo e nel gioco aereo. Non spicca nelle qualità di impostazione, ma si difende bene per quanto riguarda la velocità. La linea alta imposta da Cristian Chivu non dovrebbe rappresentare un problema per Romero, che sa coprire tratti medio-larghi di campo senza problemi. Oltre a ciò porterebbe in difesa ciò che De Vrij e Acerbi non possono più dare: leadership e carisma. Avere un interprete come Romero, forte, solido e che conosce il campionato, può dare quel qualcosa che la difesa dell'Inter al momento ha perso.
